Abstract

The present work introduces a method for an environmental assessment at farm scale. A new diagnostic tool for farmers and policymakers that allows an easy evaluation based on a set of 18 indicators aggregated in 5 main sustainability sub-pillars: diversity, spaces management, farming practices, natural resources, energy (see Table). We sampled 30 livestock farms (cattle, swine, poultry) located within the South Milan Agricultural Park, a local institution that includes the city of Milan and the municipalities adjacent to it, and we collected their data by interviews and database.
