L’INFERMIERE SCOLASTICO: RUOLI E PROPOSTE PER LA REALTÀ ITALIANA

Introduction The activity of the school nurse today makes it possible to facilitate the optimal development of the student through the promotion of health and safety, the identification and management of current and potential health problems, the implementation of case management services. In Italy this figure has yet to be clearly defined. The aim of this study is to depict the role of the school nurse in the different settings on the international territory, highlighting his areas of competence and the impact of its involvement within a multidisciplinary school care team. Materials and Methods Narrative review of the literature according to the SANRA scale on PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, free search on Google Scholar and access to the websites of the National Association of School Nurse (NASN), the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Health Service (NHS). Results According to the literature, the school nurse provides direct care to students in case of injury and illness, evaluates the general care system, carries out screening activities, ensures the safety of the school community by monitoring compliance with the vaccination plan, provides health education, participates in the development and evaluation of school health policies, liaises between school staff, family, health workers and the community. The provision of school nursing care consistently has a positive impact on student health. Discussion and conclusions The protection of the health of the school population and the supervision of school hygiene are issues dating back to the early years of the last century. It would be appropriate to implement the systematic presence in Italy of a school nurse who should not play a role to be created from scratch but rather represent a derivation of that o the family and community nurse.

Introduzione L’attività dell’infermiere scolastico permette di facilitare lo sviluppo ottimale dello studente attraverso la promozione della salute e della sicurezza, l’individuazione e l’intervento dei problemi di saluti attuali e potenziali, la messa in atto di servizi di gestione dei casi. In Italia questa figura è in fase di definizione. L’obiettivo dello studio è Inquadrare la figura dell’infermiere scolastico a livello internazionale, evidenziando gli ambiti di competenza e l’impatto di un suo inserimento all’interno del team multidisciplinare di assistenza scolastica. Materiali e metodi Revisione narrativa della letteratura secondo la SANRA scale consultando le banche dati PubMed, CINAHL ed Embase; ricerca libera su Google Scholar e consultazione dei siti internet di National Association of School Nurse (NASN), American Academy of Pediatrics e National Health Service (NHS). Risultati Secondo la letteratura, l’infermiere scolastico fornisce assistenza diretta agli studenti in caso d’infortuni e malattie, valuta il sistema generale di assistenza, svolge attività di screening, provvede alla sicurezza della comunità scolastica monitorando il rispetto del piano vaccinale, eroga interventi di educazione sanitaria, partecipa allo sviluppo e alla valutazione delle politiche sanitarie scolastiche, svolge attività di collegamento tra il personale scolastico, la famiglia, gli operatori sanitari e la comunità. L’offerta di assistenza infermieristica scolastica mostra un impatto sempre positivo sulla salute degli studenti. Discussione e conclusioni La tutela della salute della popolazione scolastica e la vigilanza sull’igiene della scuola, sono temi risalenti ai primi anni del secolo scorso. È auspicabile prevedere in Italia la presenza sistematica di un infermiere che non dovrebbe ricoprire un ruolo da creare ex novo bensì rappresentare una derivazione di quello dell’infermiere di famiglia e comunità.
