Obesity is now recognized as a major risk factor for many pathologies. The state of obesity is associated with an increase in reactive oxygen species; persistent overconsumption of calories in the obese may be exposing them to excessive damage besides maintaining the state of obesity. It is possible that dietary modification and association with assumption of antioxidant and omega-3 oral integration contributes to a reduction in reactive oxygen species generation and a corresponding reduction in indexes of oxidative damage, including lipid peroxidation.

Abstract

Obesity is now recognized as a major risk factor for many pathologies. The state of obesity is associated with an increase in reactive oxygen species; persistent overconsumption of calories in the obese may be exposing them to excessive damage besides maintaining the state of obesity. It is possible that dietary modification and association with assumption of antioxidant and omega-3 oral integration contributes to a reduction in reactive oxygen species generation and a corresponding reduction in indexes of oxidative damage, including lipid peroxidation.
