Somministrazione di antiossidanti in suinetti in post svezzamento : effetti sul benessere valutato come attività antiradicalica globale del sangue ed aptoglobina sierica

The aim of the work was to evaluate the effect of antioxidant supplementation in post weaning piglets on total blood antiradicalic activity and serum haptoglobin. At weaning 80 piglets were allotted to two dietary treatments: control diet, contained 175 mg/kg of vitamin E and a diet supplemented with the basal dosage plus 54 mg/kg of vitamin E. Piglets were weighted at weaning, at 15 and 60 d and blood samples were taken from 10 piglets per treatment, for total blood antiradicalic activity (KRL test) and serum haptoglobin determination. Piglets supplemented with vitamin E showed an higher (P<0.05) total antiradicalic activity of whole blood and red blood cells than control, suggesting a better resistance to oxidative stress.
