Jean de Vignay's Légende dorée was printed in Lyon in 1476 in a version revised by the Dominican Jean Batallier. In my contribution, I analyse the modernization of the lexicon in four chapters of the legendary, in an attempt to distinguish the innovations attributable to Batallier from those already introduced during the handwritten transmission, in order to better evaluate the scope of the Dominican’s modernization of Jean de Vignay’s vocabulary.

Abstract
Jean de Vignay's Légende dorée was printed in Lyon in 1476 in a version revised by the Dominican Jean Batallier. In my contribution, I analyse the modernization of the lexicon in four chapters of the legendary, in an attempt to distinguish the innovations attributable to Batallier from those already introduced during the handwritten transmission, in order to better evaluate the scope of the Dominican’s modernization of Jean de Vignay’s vocabulary.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
