On January 6, 2021, Trump supported the Save America March through his social accounts, and Facebook and Instagram promptly removed the defeated president’s posts and banned him from their platforms. With the decision no. 2021-001-FB-FBR, the Independent Oversight Board checked the correctness of the sanctions imposed and this decision is the cue to make a first analysis of the newborn Board and to question the role that the State has and should have in the protection of freedom of expression online.
