“Giacomo Verde: Set the artists free from Art” (La Spezia, CAMeC, 2022-2023) is the first public exhibition from the Giacomo Verde Archive and it illustrates artist’s first “techno-artistic phase”: a well-documented and creatively rich period when he arrived in 1983, self-taught, from popular and street theatre to video art, works and installations whose characteristic feature was the craftsmanship of the “technological artefact”, the use of low technology and the addition of poor materials. He was the inventor of “tele-narration”, a technique also used for creating live-video-backdrops for concerts and poetry recitals. He was one of the first Italians to create interactive art works and net-art. He worked with various different artistic teams as an author, actor, performer, musician, video-set designer and director. Reflecting on and playfully experimenting with the latest techno-anthropo-logical developments underway and building bridges between different art genres was a thematic constant. The exhibition, in collaboration with Milan State University and Academy of Fine Arts (Carrara), was dedicated to the warm memory of the unforgettable Giacomo Verde from the collective of curators composed by artists, friends, ex students, scholars.
