Nitrogen oxides (NO, NO2) are toxic pollutants responsible of health diseases, acid rains and photochemical smog [1]. Even though TiO2 has shown a great potential towards NOx abatement, its low thermal stability limits its application. Nevertheless, perovskites have sparked great interest due to their unique characteristics. More recently, their photocatalytic properties are being studied. SrTiO3 is a cubic ABO3 perovskite with an energy band gap similar to TiO2 and high thermal stability [2]. The present investigation consists in a comparative study of the photoactivity between 8% Ag-decorated SrTiO3 synthesized by wet impregnation and 5.8% Ag-doped SrTiO3(Sr0.9Ag0.1TiO3) synthesized by Flame Spray Pyrolysis towards NOx abatement under LED light. The results showed an enhancement on the photocatalytic efficiency above 80% under LED light due to introduction of Ag either onto the surface or within the structure. [1] Karapati et al.
