What does translation teaching complexity consist of, nowadays? How could modern translation competence reference frameworks evolve towards more applicable models for translation teaching? How could translation teaching give better answers to always changing translation market needs? This article tries to give an answer to these issues by analysing the pedagogical implications deriving from the development of translation competence in terms of managerial competence. This analysis will start from taking into account skills and knowledge, which must be managed by the translator during the translation process, in order to point out the pedagogical dimensions characterising translational competence training as a kind of managerial thinking training.

Abstract

What does translation teaching complexity consist of, nowadays? How could modern translation competence reference frameworks evolve towards more applicable models for translation teaching? How could translation teaching give better answers to always changing translation market needs? This article tries to give an answer to these issues by analysing the pedagogical implications deriving from the development of translation competence in terms of managerial competence. This analysis will start from taking into account skills and knowledge, which must be managed by the translator during the translation process, in order to point out the pedagogical dimensions characterising translational competence training as a kind of managerial thinking training.
En quoi consiste la complexité intrinsèque à la pédagogie de la traduction d’aujourd’hui ? Comment les modèles de processus traductionnel pourraient-ils évoluer afin de devenir concrètement applicables au contexte formatif ? Comment la pédagogie de la traduction pourrait-elle mieux répondre aux exigences les plus diversifiées du marché de la traduction professionnelle ? Le présent article se propose de répondre à ces questions à travers une première réflexion pédagogique centrée sur le développement de la pensée managériale propre à la traduction. On analysera d’abord les savoirs et les compétences que le traducteur doit gérer, ou pour mieux dire « manager », tout au long du processus de traduction. Dans un second temps, nous réfléchirons aux différentes implications pédagogiques dérivant d’une telle prise en compte du processus traductionnel en tant qu’activité managériale.
