An aquifer analogue in historical sediments of a meandering river in the Po plain (Northern Italy) was studied with a multidis ciplinary approach (geology, geostatistical simulation, flow and transport modeling). Ensembles of realizations obtained with different geostatistical methods were used to analyze the connectivity indicators and the flow and transport parameters so that information on the hydrodynamic and hydrodispersive behavior of point bar-channel aquifers can be inferred.

Abstract

An aquifer analogue in historical sediments of a meandering river in the Po plain (Northern Italy) was studied with a multidis ciplinary approach (geology, geostatistical simulation, flow and transport modeling). Ensembles of realizations obtained with different geostatistical methods were used to analyze the connectivity indicators and the flow and transport parameters so that information on the hydrodynamic and hydrodispersive behavior of point bar-channel aquifers can be inferred.
