Über das Sprichwort Keine Antwort ist auch eine Antwort und die Phrasem-Konstruktion [Kein(e) N1ist auch ein(e) N1]: formale und semantisch-pragmatische Eigenschaften

The present research aims to describe from a Construction Grammar perspective (e.g., Goldberg 1995, 2006) the German structure Keine Antwort ist auch eine Antwort (No answer is also an answer) with a view to delineating its formal and functional features and, more specifically, its internal and external syntactic behaviour as well as its illocutionary force. In addition to this fixed and lexicalised form, the focus will be placed on the «Phrasem-Konstruktion» (Dobrovol’skij 2011) [Kein(e) N1ist auch ein(e) N1] ‘No N1 is also an N1’, i.e., a more abstract form or model which is partially lexicalized and used in specific speech acts. The status of this construction and the type of connection that the two structures hold will be explained and, with recourse to corpus data, the noun classes that more frequently occupy the N1 position will be identified.
