Chinese tourism in Italy has experienced in recent years a rapid and continuous growth. To attract Chinese tourists in Italy is not only the environmental and cul- tural heritage but also some excellence (Made in Italy, shopping, fashion, design, food and drink, events). Italians tour operators, traditionally more attentive to the needs of its European and American customers, must now also deal with the new Chinese customers bearer of demands and expectations in part different. Also the environmental, socio-cultural, economic and spatial impacts from this new tourism should be carefully considered. All this helps to diversify the reality of the Italian tourist system, highlights some of its fragility and hints at some interesting potential that this contribution aims to treat.

Abstract

Chinese tourism in Italy has experienced in recent years a rapid and continuous growth. To attract Chinese tourists in Italy is not only the environmental and cul- tural heritage but also some excellence (Made in Italy, shopping, fashion, design, food and drink, events).
