As Food Studies and, more in general, a “food discourse” have, in recent times, become almost a staple of contemporary culture, this Conference addresses the issue of culture itself as a source of nourishment. Food will thus be discussed as a metaphor conducive to a multidisciplinary approach to learning and creative processes. In Dante’s Convivio knowledge is, precisely, a form of nourishment. Accordingly, the Conference will approach culture not only as a refinement of the individual, but as an all-encompassing strategy for producing meaning, touching on every aspect of human life: from rituals to the arts, from historical self-representations to forms of popular culture, and to the contemporary re-negotiations of material habits in our consumerist societies.

Abstract
As Food Studies and, more in general, a “food discourse” have, in recent times, become almost a staple of contemporary culture, this Conference addresses the issue of culture itself as a source of nourishment. Food will thus be discussed as a metaphor conducive to a multidisciplinary approach to learning and creative processes. In Dante’s Convivio knowledge is, precisely, a form of nourishment. Accordingly, the Conference will approach culture not only as a refinement of the individual, but as an all-encompassing strategy for producing meaning, touching on every aspect of human life: from rituals to the arts, from historical self-representations to forms of popular culture, and to the contemporary re-negotiations of material habits in our consumerist societies.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
