Abstract

In todays hospitals the medical workstation is a basic component of any image management and communication system. The design of such component can be very complex, because of the challenging engineering requirements. In this work we present an architectural model of a flexible and portable software platform upon which medical workstations can be realized. The model is developed within the overall framework provided by the object oriented paradigm.
