Abstract

The notion that is offered for discussion is the “omnilocal” applied to the idea of tradition in the specific contingency of local and cultural encounters provoked by migration, and in the artistic context of dramatic production and performance. If we define tradition as a set of cultural forms and expressions that are perceived and recognized by a group of people as belonging to their shared history and memory, then the “locality” of tradition becomes evident. Tradition appears as being contextual and situational.
