Somaclonal variant of cv Hedelfinger (Prunus avium L.), named HS, has been isolated among a population of regenerated shoots from leaf explants. DNA analyses conducted by ISSR systems revealed a polymorphism between the HS somaclone and wild type propagated by microcuttings. Chloroplastic and mitochondrial DNA analyses were also performed, but did not shown any difference. When somaclone HS has been tested under different light qualities in vitro conditions, showed different pattern of growth and development, with the main modification related to apical dominance and chlorophyll formation. All the data indicate that the HS cherry somaclone is a mutated genotype and the mutations could be related to growth development and functionality.

Abstract
Somaclonal variant of cv Hedelfinger (Prunus avium L.), named HS, has been isolated among a population of regenerated shoots from leaf explants. DNA analyses conducted by ISSR systems revealed a polymorphism between the HS somaclone and wild type propagated by microcuttings. Chloroplastic and mitochondrial DNA analyses were also performed, but did not shown any difference. When somaclone HS has been tested under different light qualities in vitro conditions, showed different pattern of growth and development, with the main modification related to apical dominance and chlorophyll formation. All the data indicate that the HS cherry somaclone is a mutated genotype and the mutations could be related to growth development and functionality.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
