Business organizations, regional governments and industrial policies in Italy

This paper focuses on the organization of business interests and on the interaction between them and regional governments in the field of industrial policies. While the structures and activities of regional governments have been fairly extensively researched, the organization of business interests in Italy is still a largely unexplored terrain. We have only scant information about the characteristics, internal life and modus operandi of business interest associations. Moreover, little is known on the interaction between such associations representing business interests and regional governments, on the mutual influence these two actors exert upon each other.
