The article identifies some manuscripts not found by C.L. Kayser in his nineteenth-century editions of Vitae Sophistarum of Philostratus. One of them, Ambrosianus Graecus 745 = T 122 sup., was copied by Francesco Bernardo in the late fifteenth century. Of little interest to the constitution of the text, it testifies, along with other manuscripts, the study of Philostratus in northeastern Italy, documented since the early decades of the fifteenth century. The article also illuminates aspects of Kayser's method and publishes for the first time the correspondence between him and the prefect of the Ambrosiana Library, Francesco Bentivoglio
