The aim of this works is to show the importance of the cooperation between orthodontist and implantologist. The authors describe a clinical case resolved by orthodontic and implantology therapy in order to correct the presence of existing space in the upper arch caused by a congenitally missing tooth. orthodontics allows placement of the teeth in the correct axis with a bodily movement and through a couple of forces, so that the implant will be fixed in excellent conditions to improve periodontal, functional and aesthetic rehabilitation. Implantology allows the saving of dental tissues resulting in long term success. Orthodontics has recently expanded its applications for prosthodontics and restorative reasons and for the treatment of dysfunctional TMJ and implant therapy. In addition, improved dental facilities, greater demand for preventive treatment and an increase in the number of patients requiring more complex interventions has also supported this tendency. In the future it will be even more necessary for frequent cooperation between orthodontist and implantologist both in terms of orthodontics preparation for implantology and in terms of implantology as support to orthontics.
