The aim of this study is to underline the importance of dento-facial functional orthopedic in the prevention and correction of severe skeletal deformities. Were evaluated two experimental groups: the former group was composed of 32 patients suffering of deep-bite skeletal class III malocclusion aging between 5 and 15 years; the second group consisted of 29 patients suffering of open-bite skeletal class III malocclusion, aging between 4 and 14 years, treated orthodontically and orthopedically. In the deep-bite and open-bite malocclusions the therapeutical approach for the correction of the vertical dimension in the patients is based on the use of orthopedic appliances. These appliances, are able to eliminate the environment aethiological factors, both genetic and epigenetic, that oppose to eugnatic development. Unlike deep-bite, open-bite cases in the dynamic stage of the growth must have a corrective approach much earlier to resolve vertical discrepancies.
