By taking advantage of the insensitivity of immobilized pH gradients to high protein and salt loads, microheterogeneity and polymorphism of α1‐acid glycoprotein could be demonstrated on whole serum by conventional Coomassie Brilliant Blue G‐250 staining. Different running conditions were compared for optimal resolution.
