Thermoelectric power measurements show that beta- AgI behaves as AgCl and AgBr, whereas the gamma-phase is quite different. The transport number of the interstitial Ag + in beta-AgI is evaluated from thermoelectric power and electrical conductivity data. The partial ionic entropy ( SAg(+)) gamma-AgI, estimated from thermoelectric power data is smaller than ( SAg(+)) beta-AgI, as expected from the irreversibility of the transition gamma- AgI/beta- AgI.

Abstract
