ABSTRACT SUMMARY. A novel oral multiple-unit drug delivery system(DDS), containing a high dose of 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA, mesalamine) was developed. A prolonged release of 5-ASA was achieved, aiming to meet inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) therapeutic needs.
