Pointing out some analogies and differences between Lucan’s Caesar and Seneca’s Cato, the paper aims to demonstrate that the former ones have a merely artistic purpose, whereas through the latter ones it can be seen how the Neronian authors confirm Cato’s moral superiority in comparison to his enemy.
