Abstract
Lucian displays a complex attitude towards scepticism, alternating great interest in its arguments and explicit appreciation with open polemics. Since scepticism insists on the practical side of philosophy, it is useful to human life; yet, it still remains a philosophy, and it is therefore to be rejected. In short, Lucian explotis sceptical arguments against philosophy and in order to promote the values of everyday life. But the devaluation of the arguments of the philosophers leaves him without weapons when he polemizes against common and ordinary men, who are often far from being sage and temperant.Pubblicazioni consigliate
