Goat caseins are coded by four genes, tightly linked on chromosome 6 in the following order: αs1- casein (CSN1S1), β-casein (CSN2), αs2-casein (CSN1S2), and κ-casein (CSN3). High genetic variation has been shown in goat caseins at each locus, resulting in a great number of possible haplotypes, as shown in Camosciata breed. At the light of the molecular knowledge of each locus, we can postulate that the ancestral haplotype in the Camosciata codes for CSN1S1*B, CSN2*A, CSN1S2*A, CSN3*B protein variants. A protein evolutionary model considering the whole casein haplotype is proposed. Keywords:

Abstract
Keywords:Pubblicazioni consigliate
