The paper analyzes articles published in the journal «Gerarchia» («Hierarchy»), founded by Benito Mussolini, where the Soviet Union of the period 1931–1943 was chosen as the subject of research. The main attention is paid to the question of what image of the USSR was formed by the Italian reader in the context ofthe development of Italian-Soviet relations in periods of rapprochement of the positions of countries or in periods of confrontation, break, when, nevertheless, the interest of the fascist periodical publication in the Soviet reality has not diminished.

Abstract
