Alla scoperta dell'Ucraina: 2022-2024

A broad overview of Italian historiography on Ukraine from the Russian invasion of 24 February 2022 to the end of 2024 is offered, which highlights how it has been enriched with new titles, to compensate for a relative void that was previously noticeable, when this country, independent since 1991, had not been given the attention it deserved, also by virtue of its delicate position between the former Soviet union and the European union. In conclusion, it can be said that although a specific new historiographical paradigm is not highlighted, there are many valuable indications on possible future lines of study and research. The analysis also highlights the gap that now exists between a serious, and ultimately anything but modest, Italian Ukrainian (but also Russian) studies and a non-specialist approach, characterized by simplifications, superficiality and vulnerability to the most abused themes of pro-Russian propaganda, with negative consequences on the public debate that is influenced by it.

Viene offerta un’ampia panoramica della storiografia italiana sull’Ucraina dall’invasione russa del 24 febbraio 2022 alla fine del 2024, che evidenzia come essa si sia arricchita di nuovi titoli, a compensazione di un relativo vuoto che era avvertibile in precedenza, quando a questo Paese, indipendente dal 1991, non era stata dedicata l’attenzione che avrebbe meritato, anche in virtù della sua delicata posizione fra ex Unione sovietica ed Unione europea. In conclusione, si può dire che per quanto non si evidenzi uno specifico nuovo paradigma storiografico, molte sono le preziose indicazioni sulle possibili future linee di studio e di ricerca. L’analisi mette in luce altresì lo scarto ormai esistente tra una ucrainistica (ma anche russistica) italiana seria, e alla fine tutt’altro che modesta, e un approccio non specialistico, connotato da semplificazioni, superficialità e vulnerabilità ai più abusati temi della propaganda filorussa, con conseguenze negative sul dibattito pubblico che ne risulta influenzato.
