The aim of this paper is to describe the framework of the experience at the centre of this volume. It focuses on our University’s Prison Education Programme – by far the biggest in Italy and one of the largest in Europe – Programme that I’ve been directing since it began, in 2015. The paper summarises its main features, its peculiarities compared to other similar projects and, finally, its spirit: the ‘philosophy’ of our Education Project for incarcerated people.
