Between 1950 and the end of the Seventies a few thinkers (Fanon, Goffman, Basaglia, Foucault) devoted their theoretical and political ef- fort to the liberation of people who were constrained in institutions like prisons and asylums, confined in specifical areas by occupation forces or prevented from escaping their countries. In present days, their goals live on in the “no-borders” movement as well as in animal liberationists. In spite of his deep interest for the spatial aspects of victimization, René Girard did not personally support these positions; his theory, nonethe- less, offers an original viewpoint on phenomena like encirclement, iso- lation and expulsion as persecution strategies.

Abstract
Between 1950 and the end of the Seventies a few thinkers (Fanon, Goffman, Basaglia, Foucault) devoted their theoretical and political ef- fort to the liberation of people who were constrained in institutions like prisons and asylums, confined in specifical areas by occupation forces or prevented from escaping their countries. In present days, their goals live on in the “no-borders” movement as well as in animal liberationists. In spite of his deep interest for the spatial aspects of victimization, René Girard did not personally support these positions; his theory, nonethe- less, offers an original viewpoint on phenomena like encirclement, iso- lation and expulsion as persecution strategies.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
