Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) is the most prevalent type of chronic liver disease worldwide. Prognosis and prevention of complications due to fibrosis progression in people with ALD depend on the timely detection of the stage of fibrosis. In the following chapter, the authors review noninvasive diagnosis of liver fibrosis and cirrhosis measured by transient elastography (TE).
