In the modern digital era centralized and distributed systems emerge as two prominent paradigms for organizing ICT infrastructure, each presenting distinct advantages and challenges. Centralized systems concentrate resources and processing power in a single location, offering streamlined management and control but introducing risks such as single points of failure. In contrast, distributed systems distribute resources across multiple nodes, enhancing scalability, fault tolerance, and resilience, albeit with increased complexity in management. The choice between centralized and distributed systems hinges on factors like application nature, scalability requirements, and data sensitivity. While centralized systems suit applications with modest scalability needs and centralized control, distributed sys- tems excel in large-scale deployments requiring high availability and performance optimization. This paper presents a real-world application scenario involving a distributed repository of documents and metadata. The appli- cation entails a network of edge document repositories analyzing textual content and metadata to extract entities, thereby offering en- hanced semantic exploration functionalities for the Italian Ministry of Justice.

Abstract
The appli- cation entails a network of edge document repositories analyzing textual content and metadata to extract entities, thereby offering en- hanced semantic exploration functionalities for the Italian Ministry of Justice.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
