The author examines the problem of the periodization of the history of philosophy, challenging the possibility of 'neutral' and 'purely chronological' periodizations. He also criticises the idea of the 'long Middle Ages' but, instead of defending the traditional distinction between medieval and Renaissance philosophy, he suggests an alternative periodization that identifies - in Latin Christendom - two relatively unitary blocks ranging from the 5th to the 11th century and from the 12th to the 16th century.

Abstract
The author examines the problem of the periodization of the history of philosophy, challenging the possibility of 'neutral' and 'purely chronological' periodizations. He also criticises the idea of the 'long Middle Ages' but, instead of defending the traditional distinction between medieval and Renaissance philosophy, he suggests an alternative periodization that identifies - in Latin Christendom - two relatively unitary blocks ranging from the 5th to the 11th century and from the 12th to the 16th century.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
