Pre-university education offers students a unique opportunity for tourism through the complementary and extracurricular activities programmed by the departments of primary and secondary schools, initiatives previously approved by the school council and which teachers use as a didactic resource to motivate their students in their subjects. These school trips become real tourist experiences by offering pupils a fun and educational moment with a well-defined product, supported by experts in the sector who can benefit economically by providing services adapted to the nature of the group and even directly, in collaboration with the teacher, by coordinating, accompanying and interpreting the different tourist attractions in the areas close to the school premises. From a methodological point of view, the research has been approached through an empirical approach using mixed descriptive techniques with the intention of justifying a tourist typology focused on school trips. By creating a travel agency specialised in educational guided tours, favouring the dynamic use of the participant-observation methodology, resulting in a tourist-educational product validated and tested by the schools. The purpose of this research is: (1) to unravel school tourism as a sub-segment of educational and cultural tourism from its origins to the present day. To this end, the market generated is analysed, well defined in a network of trips and products designed by tourism professionals, materialised in school outings, excursions, trips, cultural exchanges, workshops and activities. (2) To promote initiatives outside the classroom as a didactic strategy and socio-economic activity that creates synergies between the school community and tourism service providers. (3) To create an educational tour validated by teachers and applied to groups of schoolchildren as a complementary, transversal activity that helps to strengthen the key competences decreed by the European Commission and implemented in the education systems of the member countries, as in the case of Spain and Italy. (4) Include in the last part of the work the business plan of a tourism company, set up during the research process, to serve as an example for those professionals in the sector who want to revitalise this type of tourism-educational activities aimed at schools to discover their territory with the help of a heritage interpreter specialised in school groups.

Abstract
(4) Include in the last part of the work the business plan of a tourism company, set up during the research process, to serve as an example for those professionals in the sector who want to revitalise this type of tourism-educational activities aimed at schools to discover their territory with the help of a heritage interpreter specialised in school groups.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
