The contribution examines the names of the game “blind-man’s buff ” documented in the Lombard dialect lexicography of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. We focus first on the Italian names: the prevailing choice is for moscacieca, which is contrasted on the one hand by gatta cieca, a voice that has a good documentation in the vocabularies of western Lombardy; on the other side beccalaglio, widespread in those of eastern Lombardy. As regards the dialect, the onomasiological scrutiny reveals the variety of denominations present in the same area; of which we then try do indicate the motivation. In the last part we focus on the definitions.
