Levels II and I of Tell Yelkhi are dated to the Kassite period and are characterized by the presence of a fortified residential unit and some burials. Archaeological records from these strata indicate a combination of different cultural influences and local traditions. In particular, the production of fine pottery can be compared with some markers in Mittani area (Nuzi and Tell Bderi) or Elam (Susa and Haft Tepe). The aim of this type of analysis is to understand if contacts among different regions consist in the “assimilation of traits”, oriented on a shared tradition of consumption, or rather in the importing of foreign products.
