Trattamento medico degli ematomi retroperitoneali in corso di terapia anticoagulante postoperatoria e cronica: Nostra esperienza

Traumatic and non-traumatic retroperitoneal hematomas can be classified according to the different onset site. In 10% of cases spontaneous hematomas appeared during heparin or dicumarolic therapy. It is possible to classify hematomas investigating the bleeding point. In a period of ten years, from 1989 to 1999, we evaluated (cases of spontaneous retroperitoneal hematomas during antiocoagulant therapy. Risks factors have been evaluated and CT scan was the best instrumental examination. Dicumarolic therapy has been stopped immediately and in few cases low amount of heparin was continued (patient with mitral replacement). Medical therapy was the best way to treat this pathology and surgical treatment should be performed only when acute bleeding or severe organ failure is present.
