Forma della filosofia e filosofia della forma : Stefan George e Georg Simmel

The essay aims to circumscribe the relationship between art and philosophy in the context of Stefan George’s thought with particular reference to the link between the poet and the philosopher Georg Simmel and their interpretation of the concept of form. In the larger context of the debate on “Wissenschaft als Beruf”, which theoretically defines the so-called “Kreis science”, the mutual influences of the two reveal a perspective which, through Nietzsche’s thought, is fundamental for understanding the Simmelian conception of history, based on that concept of “personality” which finds extraordinary affinity with the Gestaltgeschichte perspective developed by George and his collaborators, and on that link between history and aesthetics that in the last phase of his thought will identify a new ethical dimension, a philosophy of life that will continue to dialogue, even at a distance, with the instances of Georgian art pour art.
