The paper deals with a new thermal building in Late Roman Gortys (Crete), the so-called “Terme a Sud del Pretorio”, which was totally unknown before and it has been excavating by the University of Milan since 2003. The bath was built in the second half of the 4th century A.D. and developed through the following ages until the end of the city monumental history in the 8th century A.D. The diggings have unearthed a thermal complex decorated with vivid mosaics, beautiful polychrome marble floors and marble statues; in the paper the main phases of life of the bath complex are discussed.
