Religioznaja leksika Srednevekov'ja v sovremennom russkom romane: Lavr E.G. Vodolazkina (Религиозная лексика Средневековья в современном русском романе: «Лавр» Е. Г. Водолазкина)

The present article deals with the role of Church Slavonic language and religious lexicon of medieval origin in the novel «Lavr» by E. G. Vodolazkin. The «instrument of language», as Vodolazkin himself defines his own style, allows to identify Orthodox spirituality as the coordinates through which the author describes the novel’s background, the 15th century. In addition to more explicit references (for example, biblical quotations), it is the entire language fabric of Vodolazkin that creates a trustful and vivid medieval worldview. After defining the meaning of «religious lexicon», the articles considers two examples from the sphere of spirituality («svetoprestavlenie / konets sveta», «sozertsanie / sozertsatelnost») to show, referring to the lexicographic repertoire of Church Slavonic and modern Russian languages, how in «Lavr» the author has developed many semantic domains to reconstruct the semiotic continuum of Russian language.
