This chapter explores the seminal contribution of the Swedish mathematician Nicolaus Andreae Granius. As a professor of natural philosophy, Granius included ethics in his background and took part in several disputations on ethical themes. It describes Granius's interest, such as the deriving didactic approach, that was driven by an epistemological purpose in which ethics was in constant interaction with adjacent disciplines and topics. The chapter cites Granius's collection of books that offers greater insight into his disciplinary system and the place attributed to ethics. It tells the story about ethical debates that teaches very different lessons depending on whether it is explained as a series of teaching initiatives taken within a stable system of courtly patronage or is instead framed as an issue within the history of knowledge.
