The authors of the 15th and 16th centuries – most of them anonymous – who rewrote in prose ancient verse romans and chansons de geste, used a fairly rich palette of verbs and phrases to designate their work: some of them are more frequent (mettre en prose) than others (escripre en prose, convertir, tourner, extraire, proser); some underline the change from one language into another (prefix trans-: transmuer, translater, or the very recent traduire). By relying on the corpus collected and made available in the Nouveau Répertoire des Mises en prose (Paris, 2014), this article aims to survey and establish a commented inventory of this lexis, which is both specialized and varied.

Abstract
The authors of the 15th and 16th centuries – most of them anonymous – who rewrote in prose ancient verse romans and chansons de geste, used a fairly rich palette of verbs and phrases to designate their work: some of them are more frequent (mettre en prose) than others (escripre en prose, convertir, tourner, extraire, proser); some underline the change from one language into another (prefix trans-: transmuer, translater, or the very recent traduire). By relying on the corpus collected and made available in the Nouveau Répertoire des Mises en prose (Paris, 2014), this article aims to survey and establish a commented inventory of this lexis, which is both specialized and varied.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
