Indocyanine green (ICG) is a vital dye with the distinctive feature of being fluorescent if properly excited and is therefore currently used in near infrared (NIR) fluorescence image-guided oncologic surgery. Recently, a new camera has been developed for the da Vinci Surgical System which allows real-time switching between a standard three-dimensional vision to a NIR view. The technique of fluorescence imaging, the so-called Firefly System, can be applied in several fields of robotic general surgery, some still experimental and continuously evolving.

Abstract
Indocyanine green (ICG) is a vital dye with the distinctive feature of being fluorescent if properly excited and is therefore currently used in near infrared (NIR) fluorescence image-guided oncologic surgery. Recently, a new camera has been developed for the da Vinci Surgical System which allows real-time switching between a standard three-dimensional vision to a NIR view. The technique of fluorescence imaging, the so-called Firefly System, can be applied in several fields of robotic general surgery, some still experimental and continuously evolving.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
