Every urban and territorial design is the outcome of a representation that is translated into a will. Taking a cue from Heidegger's "Interrupted Paths," environmental interpretations are explored from a territorialist perspective by pursuing ten paths plus one: depending on whether the focus is on the metaphysical sphere, to connect macrocosm and microcosm, or whether it focuses on the person or the community, with a prevalence of social attention, or whether the environment is read as an interconnection between city and countryside or city and nature (urban environment, rururban, rural, organic and natural), to the point of electing it as both a conditioning and conditional element of development choices (ecological environment). The hypothesis chosen is to look at the street from the shoulders of the giants (from Cerdá to Le Corbusier, from Geddes to Wright, from Gropius to Saarinen, from Le Breton to Mc Harg...) to see how the variation of this cognitive entity affects city design and territory patrimonialisation, as well as to recognize the foundational dimensions and limits of the discipline of urban planning, which is always explanatory of a culture and thought from which one cannot prescind.

Abstract
Every urban and territorial design is the outcome of a representation that is translated into a will. It is the result of a culture interpreting needs of a time and a community to build a development project. In the late 1930s, while Le Corbusier proclaimed that trees must be planted, Leopold warned that the rules of the game must be respected to conserve the earth. In late 2021, COP 15 denounces that humanity is "winning" its suicidal war against nature! How did we get to this point? When did resources turn into emergencies? Starting from these questions, the volume looks for relations between Environment, Territory and City, searching for lexical variations that change their mutual balances, translating the meanings into projects. The hypothesis chosen is to look at the street from the shoulders of the giants (from Cerdá to Le Corbusier, from Geddes to Wright, from Gropius to Saarinen, from Le Breton to Mc Harg...) to see how the variation of this cognitive entity affects city design and territory patrimonialisation, as well as to recognize the foundational dimensions and limits of the discipline of urban planning, which is always explanatory of a culture and thought from which one cannot prescind.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
