The following article focuses on mediation activities for work-related foreign language teaching (Costa/Katelhoen 2013) in the field of tourism. After a brief introduction to the concept of mediation and the linguistic and cultural characteristics of tourism communication, the authors’ stated concern is to develop mediation activities that meet the authentic communication needs of learners. Based on a needs analysis for linguistic skills of tourism operators (Costa 2018), the mediation activities outlined in the Companion Volume of CEFR (Council of Europe 2020b: 112) will be developed: Mediation of Texts, Mediation of Concepts and Mediation of Communication should be translated into concrete tasks for mediation, which serve to develop communicative competences in professional contexts, but also become effective in the field of plurilingual and pluricultural skills.

Abstract
The following article focuses on mediation activities for work-related foreign language teaching (Costa/Katelhoen 2013) in the field of tourism. After a brief introduction to the concept of mediation and the linguistic and cultural characteristics of tourism communication, the authors’ stated concern is to develop mediation activities that meet the authentic communication needs of learners. Based on a needs analysis for linguistic skills of tourism operators (Costa 2018), the mediation activities outlined in the Companion Volume of CEFR (Council of Europe 2020b: 112) will be developed: Mediation of Texts, Mediation of Concepts and Mediation of Communication should be translated into concrete tasks for mediation, which serve to develop communicative competences in professional contexts, but also become effective in the field of plurilingual and pluricultural skills.Pubblicazioni consigliate
