Notai a giudizio: parole, immagini e azioni nella Milano del Tardo Medioevo

The paper aims to identify and analyze documents that can enable us to understand responsibili- ties, procedures and tools by which some notaries were accused and judged to be forgers. Analyzing sources from the city of Milan, the attention will be focused not only on the notaries brought to trial, on their fates and on the crimes they committed, but also on the communicative contexts and tools, on the words, spoken and written, that characterize the verbal interaction of the trial proceedings and on the silences, which images and actions try to make up for.

Il contribuito mira a individuare e analizzare gli atti in grado di permetterci di comprendere responsabilità, procedure e strumenti attraverso i quali alcuni professionisti degni di publica fides sono stati accusati e giudicati di essere falsari. A partire dalle fonti della città di Milano si punterà l’attenzione non solo sui notai portati in giudizio, sui loro destini e sui crimini di cui si sono resi protagonisti, ma anche sui contesti e sugli strumenti comunicativi, vale a dire sulle parole, dette e scritte, che caratterizzano l’interazione verbale dello svolgimento processuale e sui silenzi, cui provano a sopperire immagini e azioni.
