in the context of Medieval Gallo-Romance lyric it is possible to recognize a small but significant group of texts that develop a particular topic connected to the crusades: the poetic “I” is forced by the woman he loves to move to the Holy Land. This paper studies all these poems aiming to recognize their common features and their possible references to contemporary historical reality.
