This research project entitled " Clankriminalität in Berlin: the social and institutional representation of an emerging criminal phenomenon” aims at investigating a recent criminal phenomenon whose presence is found within an environment often considered unrelated to the emergence of forms of organized crime: the German context. The theoretical framework of the research is structured around two thematic areas that are strongly interconnected with each other, namely the processes and dynamics of emergence of complex forms of organized crime on the one hand, and the controversial relationship existing between migratory processes and organized crime on the other hand. The study is carried out taking into consideration different sources that provide a representation of the phenomena, such as BKA and LKA reports, the archives of German newspaper and the scientific literature pubblished on the topic. The aforementioned sources are integrated with interviews to experts and privileged observers who cover a variety of roles, in order to ensure the heterogeneity of the sample and obtain multiple and diversified information. The ultimate goal is to put forward hypotheses about the factors that contributed to the construction of the social and institutional representation of the phenomenon.
