The article offers the first critical edition of a hagiographical text related to the foundation of the Abbey of San Pietro al Monte at Civate, employing all the manuscripts that preserve it. The text owes its own survival to the its later Fortleben: it has been handed down to us only because it has been included in a Milanese Chronicle of the 13th century
