The manuscript tradition of Moses Maimonides’ Dux neutrorum transmits numerous marginal notes, which contribute to the reconstruction of the translation’s historical context. This paper focuses on such marginal notes that transmit information con- cerning the method of translation and the origin of the Dux neutrorum, and in par- ticular references to the Hebrew original text. Moreover, these marginal notes refer to internal elements of the manuscript tradition, namely through references to vari- ants transmitted by other manuscripts.

Abstract
The manuscript tradition of Moses Maimonides’ Dux neutrorum transmits numerous marginal notes, which contribute to the reconstruction of the translation’s historical context. This paper focuses on such marginal notes that transmit information con- cerning the method of translation and the origin of the Dux neutrorum, and in par- ticular references to the Hebrew original text. Moreover, these marginal notes refer to internal elements of the manuscript tradition, namely through references to vari- ants transmitted by other manuscripts.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
